We're going on a Bear Hunt
Using this Bear Hunt story outdoors is a wonderful way of exploring a book.
Children can develop their gross (big) motor skills like swaying, running, tiptoeing, etc. This development is essential for growing children.
Use exciting language and facial expressions when acting outside. You have the space to have fun together, to laugh and be silly. If it is out of your comfort zone, choose an area that is hidden, and make the story acting more mysterious. Try it. You may surprise yourself!

Vamos a cazar un oso
Usar la historia de «Vamos a cazar un oso libre» (The Bear Hunt story) es una forma maravillosa de explorar un libro.
Los niños pueden desarrollar sus destrezas motoras gruesas (usar los músculos grandes del cuerpo, como las piernas y los brazos) como balancearse, correr, caminar de puntillas, etc. Este desarrollo es esencial para niños en fase de crecimiento.
Use lenguaje y expresiones faciales emocionantes y interesantes cuando actúe afuera. Afuera tiene el espacio para divertirse y reírse con hijo. Si no se siente cómodo haciendo esto, elija una área que esté escondida y haga que la historia sea más misteriosa. Pruébalo. ¡Te puedes sorprender!

Tips for bringing a story to life from our Booksharing Course:
Booksharing Tips for parents:
Booksharing can help your child concentrate, develop their language/thinking skills and feel closer to you.
Handa’s Surprise is a great story to share with your children but with these tips you can bring any story to life:
- Let your child lead the story and look at what they are interested in. Let them point out things and help them learn words by pointing and naming things on the page. You can ask open questions such as what, who, how…..?
- Act out the story to help your child to enjoy it more and make links to their own experience
- Use opportunities to talk about colours and numbers but don’t make it a test! When they get it wrong - stay positive, ignore the mistake and suggest that you count/say colours together.
- Make links to real life such as eating the fruits in the story as you read it or saying things like "those mangoes are like the ones we saw in the market yesterday" or "that girl has a blue dress like you".
- Most importantly sharing books is meant to be fun....pick a good time to share with your child when they are not tired, hungry or too distracted.

La lectura compartida puede ayudar a su hijo a concentrarse, desarrollar sus habilidades de lenguaje / pensamiento y sentirse más prómixo de usted.
«Handa’s Surprise» (La Sorpresa de Handa) es una gran historia para compartir con tus hijos, pero con estos consejos puedes dar vida a cualquier historia:
- Deje que su hijo dirija la historia y obesrve lo que le interesa y ayúdelos a aprender palabras. Puede lograr esto al señalar y nombrar cosas en la página. Puede hacer preguntas abiertas como qué, quién, cómo ... en ingles: «what, who, how ... »
• Actúe la historia para ayudar a su hijo o hija a disfrutarla más y hacer enlaces a su propia experiencia.
• ¡Aproveche las oportunidades para hablar sobre colores y números, pero no lo convierten en una prueba!! Cuando su hijo se equivoque, manténgase positiva, ignore el error y sugiera que cuenten colores juntos o que digan colores juntos.
• Crea enlaces a la vida real, por ejemplo, puedes comer las frutas de la historia mientras la lees o decir cosas como "esos mangos son como los que vimos en el mercado ayer" o "esa chica tiene un vestido azul como tú ".
• Elija un buen momento para compartir con su hijo cuando no esté cansado, hambriento o demasiado distraído.
